      The Greater Cazenovia Area Chamber of Commerce and Cazenovia Area Senior Association are jointly sponsoring a senior housing initiative to address the housing and service needs of seniors in the greater Cazenovia area. This being a community-wide effort with the priority of maintaining the character and values of the Cazenovia area, a survey is an important aspect of the study.       “It’s getting exciting as we’re receiving information in from various sources,” said Chamber President Ralph Monforte. “County wide, it’s very exciting because other people are looking at this like a pilot program on how to approach senior living issues in a small town.
      On July 29 at 6:30 pm there will be an open meeting at the St. James Church.
      “We’re inviting the public, anyone and everyone,” Monforte said. “Any body can come and have the opportunity for input regarding senior housing in Cazenovia.”

Cazenovia College will honor the Greater Cazenovia Area Chamber of Commerce (GCACC) at the 15th Annual Cazenovia College-Community Block Party, June 26, on the College Quad from noon to 3 p.m.
The Greater Cazenovia Area Chamber of Commerce will be honored for its commitment “to the active development of commerce and investment in the greater Cazenovia area and to serving the common needs of businesses operating in the area, with a particular emphasis on small businesses.”

       A summer-long Market and Feasibility Study will examine the housing and service needs of seniors in Cazenovia, Nelson, Fenner and surrounding communities.
      Members of the Greater Cazenovia Area Chamber of Commerce and Cazenovia Area Senior Association met on May 7 to hear James P. Carroll, president of Asterhill, Inc., describe the upcoming study. The planning and development firm from Mumford, N.Y. has extensive experience researching senior accommodations in upstate New York.
