Immersion Program at Rippleton Schoolhouse at Lorenzo
Mrs. Smith’s 4th grade class took a field trip to the Rippleton Schoolhouse Tuesday as part of the One Room Schoolhouse Immersion Program at Lorenzo.
“The children are being…
immersed back in the times of 1887,” said teacher guide Kathy Porter. “It’s all part of the 4th grade curriculum.”

The students, dressed in period garb, brought lunch in baskets and used towels to wrap their food instead of plastic.
At recess, the kids enjoyed play in the field with wooden stilts, hoops, badminton, jump rope and other diversionary items of the era.

“They’ve taken on the roll of a student that actually went to this school back in 1887,” Smith said.
