To the editor: Parking in Cazenovia has been a problem for decades

Complete solutions are unlikely to occur quickly, but it is important that residents know the Parking Committee is working hard to alleviate problems and to provide and fairly regulate downtown parking. People looking for parking may be interested in some changes that were made at the January 4th Village Board meeting.
Existing all day parking downtown:
Library lot
Albany St. west from Sullivan St. to the lake (both sides of street)
Seminary St. (north side)
Lincklaen St. from Seminary to Nickerson (west side)
Sullivan St. from Seminary to Nickerson (east side)
Anywhere parking is not otherwise restricted
Added to all day parking downtown:
Lincklaen St. from Nickerson to Corwin (West side)
Sullivan St. from Nickerson to Union (East side)
Williams St.(South side)
A parking map will soon be posted on the kiosk near Kinney Drugs to help those looking for parking.
$10.00 parking fines have been increased to $20.00; persistent offenders will be booted.  The courtesy pass program (one ticket forgiveness every six months) remains in effect.
Two hour parking adjacent to downtown businesses and restaurants is intended for  customers; the 91 employees of these businesses and restaurants are urged to park in all day parking, so their patrons may park, shop and eat in these establishments.
Parking issues have not been completely solved by these measures; serious needs such as overnight parking remain.  Long range solutions will require time and money and patience.   Meanwhile your ideas and suggestions regarding parking are welcome and would be appreciated.
